FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP CROSS-BORDER ADVENTURE RACING AIRS ON SERIES" NEW HOME MAVTV IN UNITED STATES

Jul 18, 2013

Corona, California - July 18, 2013 The World Rally Championship (WRC) is the top-ranked rally series organized by the FIA. It currently consists of 13 events of up to 25 special stages, driven on gravel, tarmac, snow and ice. The global motorsports series races in Argentina and Greece will air at 7pm E/P on July 18 and July 25 on MAVTV American Real re-airing throughout July, with additional races airing through August. The WRC provides authentic and competitive motorsports action featuring powerful cars and fantastic drivers in unique environments, and MAVTV acquired the rights to the sporting series to continue delivering the action-themed motorsport programming for which it's known.

The FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) pits cars and drivers in a series of two, three or four-day events though some of the toughest, and most varied, conditions on the planet. The roads on this epic motorsport adventure range from the ice and snow of Scandinavia to the stifling heat of Greece - over surfaces including packed ice, smooth asphalt and boulder-strewn rocky tracks. Unsurprisingly, the series is widely regarded as the most challenging motorsport competition in the world. Established in its current format in 1973, in 2013 drivers and manufacturers will battle it out for the 41st annual drivers" and manufacturers" championship trophies on rallies spread across 13 countries.

In October 2012, the FIA appointed the WRC Promoter GmbH, a joint company of the Red Bull Media House and the Sportsman Media Group as responsible for all commercial aspects of the WRC operation in the global television production and media rights management and distribution for all rallies on the WRC calendar. In May 2013, the WRC Promoter GmbH sold the rights to broadcast all races in the United States to independent cable network, MAVTV.
