After 5 years away from the series, Jason Patison Racing traveled to Lake Havasu 95 Speedway for round one of the 2013 Lucas Oil Modified season. After a very busy practice session, Patison and crew chief Steve Teets lined their number 80 machine up in back of a very competitive field of 34 entries for time trials. The hard work paid off as Patison turned a lap of 15.59, qualifying him in 5th position, and earning him a spot in the Bilstein Trophy Dash.
During the dash, Patison and Nick Romano ran side by side for several laps before Patison finally completed a pass around the outside on lap 4. Patison held onto the lead and took home the first Bilstein Trophy Dash award of the season.
In the main event Patison raced hard within the top 10 all night and brought his Lucas Oil/MAVTV Modified home in 8th place.
"We had a really fast car tonight but unfortunately we kept getting stuck on the outside during restarts and lost a few spots every time before we could get back in the bottom groove. The cards didn"t fall our way tonight but we know we have a car that can run up front and as rusty as I was when we showed up this weekend, a top 10 is a great way to start the season, " said Patison after the event.
Jason Patison would like to thank all of his sponsors: Lucas Oil Products, MAVTV American Real Network, E3 Sparkplugs, SPEEDCO, K&N Filters, Optima Batteries, Imagine This, Ramona Tire and The Water Warden.
