CORONA, CA (May 10, 2018) - ARCA returns to MAVTV on Sunday, May 20th in a live telecast starting at 2:00pm ET. MDM Motorsports teammates Sheldon Creed and Zane Smith are expected to continue their tight battle for the points lead in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, in the Menards 200 at Toledo, OH Speedway - a half-mile paved oval just south of the Ohio-Michigan border.
The 200-lap, 100-mile race will be the third of 11 live telecasts by MAVTV and the fifth of 20 events in this year’s ARCA championship season.
Creed, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Pro Lite champion in 2014, will go into the Toledo contest with a 70-point lead over Smith, an 18-year-old from Huntington Beach, CA. Creed, a 20-year-old from Alpine, CA, has built his lead with top 5 finishes in all 4 previous races while Smith has 2 wins and 3 top 5s.
Smith’s most recent win, over New Jersey driver Joseph Graf Jr. at Talladega April 27, came in the closest finish in ARCA history (the margin of victory is listed as 0.000 seconds).
ARCA (Automobile Racing Club of America), is a Midwest-based sanctioning body for stock car auto racing competing on superspeedways, road courses, short tracks and dirt ovals. Past ARCA series champions have included NASCAR Cup Hall of Famer Benny Parsons, Ty Dillon, Justin Allgaier, Bob Kesolowski and 10-time champion Frank Kimmel.
