Dodgers at the center of divorce battle

Happier days.
_
What’s a sure way to get your wife to divorce you? Well, you could start by firing her 2 weeks before your 30th wedding anniversary.
Frank McCourt, the owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, is heading to divorce court courtesy of his wife Jamie. She’s filed to end their marriage, citing those ole “irreconcilable differences.” They apparently separated July 6, but he must have struck the final blow last week when he axed her job. That was the day before the Dodgers were eliminated from the playoffs (distraction?).
TMZ reported he changed the lock to her office door. Sheesh, that’s tellin’ her.
As you can imagine, the wife is not taking this lying down. In the divorce paperwork, she demands her job back as CEO and Vice-Chairman of the Dodgers, as well as the huge perks and benefits that go with owning the team. She lists her living expenses per month at $488,928. PER MONTH!!! She’s also wanting him to foot the bill for travel by private jet, unlimited travel expenses and 10 free meals per week, among other things.
Must be nice, lady… Oops, I mean, it WAS nice.
The LA Times published an opinion piece criticizing the McCourts for trimming $55 million of the Dodgers payroll to buy two houses next to each other in Malibu. Jamie McCourt once asked Dodgers fans (I guess rhetorically) if they’d rather have 50 youth ballparks or a high-priced free agent.
It will be interesting to see how this divorce case unfolds. It could get pretty nasty. California is a community property state so she could end up taking him to the cleaners. She may be entitled to $750 million for her share of the Dodgers. But sometimes 50% of your crap is a small price to pay to shed yourself of someone you’ve grown to hate.
Then again, if the rumors are true that she was romantically involved with the recently-fired Dodgers former “director of protocol” Jeff Fuller, Frank McCourt may get off relatively easy. Don’t worry about her suffering either way because Fuller is reportedly an heir to the Pillsbury fortune, worth even more than her soon-to-be ex-husband.
“You never really know a man until you have divorced him.”
