‘Twilight’ again the center of chick universe

Chicks dig this stuff.

What is up with this “New Moon” crap?
If men rule the world, how come that world is turned on its head whenever teenage girls obsess over something? In much the same way that “Titanic” appealed to young women enamored by a tale of doomed love, the “Twilight” series of films is casting its spell over millions of chicks. I’m more of a “True Blood” vampire fan than some Emo pretty boy who glows in the sunset. Wimpy…
Interesting article in Esquire about the resurgent popularity of vampires in popular culture. The bottom line point of it was that teenage girls love “Twilight” so much because the dreamy vampire is a metaphor for that dreamy gay boy they wish they could date — the guy they have so much in common with, if only the guy wasn’t repulsed by the idea of having his way with a naked girl.
“New Moon” is a marketing smorgasborg. I walked into a record store at the mall this weekend and was immediately bombarded by life-sized cut-outs of the hunky male stars as well as rack after rack of magazines dedicated exclusively to this stupid movie. Magazines are going out of business left and right but I get my choice of Robert Pattinson covers? Gimme a break!
My wife won’t stop drooling over this Taylor Lautner kid who plays a werewolf that conveniently sheds his clothes so he never wears a shirt; Taylor Swift is supposedly dating the actor in real life. If you don’t know who I am talking about, kudos to you, fella, because you aren’t supposed to. I guess I’ll see her pretty boy and raise her a supermodel…
I’m so ready for Nov. 20th to arrive so I can stop hearing about and seeing images from this stupid sequel. But alas, “Twilight” is a series of books by a chick named Stephanie Meyer. “New Moon” is the second of four books in the “Twilight” series and I hear the final book, “Breaking Dawn” may be made into 3 separate films. Ugh…
The only redeeming thing about this movie is 19-year-old hottie Kristen Stewart (why can’t SHE take her shirt off instead of the werewolf?). Aside from her, “Twilight” doesn’t offer a whole lot that’s satisfying unless you are a teenage girl or a gay dude.
