BPA tied to impotence in men

Nontoxic Baby Bottles anyone???
_
Ok guys, I’ve written here before about the dangers of plastics chemical bisphenol A (BPA). But I’m sure some of you grunted like Tim Allen’s caveman and dismissed anything that might be in your pantry as dangerous to a he-man like yourself.
Now there’s new evidence suggesting BPA might hurt us where it counts: Our “guns.”
Exposure to high levels of BPA significantly raised the risk of sexual dysfunction, including impotence and low sex drive, among Chinese factory workers, a new study has found. BPA is used to make hard, clear plastic found in electronic and medical equipment, cars, sports safety equipment, and food and drink containers, including plastic bottles and the lining of cans.
Workers in the BPA factories were four times more likely to report erectile dysfunction, reduced sexual desire and overall dissatisfaction with their sex life. They were also seven times more likely than the other control group to have ejaculation difficulties. The higher the exposure, the more likely they were to have sexual difficulties. Other research has linked BPA to an increased risk of diabetes, cancer and heart arrhythmias. Male sexual dysfunction may be an early indicator of BPA-related problems that take longer to develop, scientists say.
But Steven Hentges, executive director of the American Chemistry Council’s Polycarbonate/BPA Global Group, said the occupational exposure of these factory workers far exceeds what the average person would ingest using products that contain trace levels of BPA.
I’m not demonizing BPA here. There’s uncertainty regarding this chemical, which was approved by the FDA in the early 1960s. I’m just informing you guys about reports of risks so informed personal health decisions can be made. I’d hate for you to have to spend all that money on Viagra just because you use plastic containers.
Yes, it is still inconclusive, but some countries have already banned the sale of baby bottles made with BPA because animal studies have shown the chemical is linked to reproductive harm that may be irreversible during critical stages of development.
Here’s some more info about BPA in case you are curious.
