Oly Rollers win the 2009 WFTDA championship

Congratulations to the Oly Rollers, who beat Texas 178-101 to win the 2009 WFTDA National Roller Derby Championship this weekend!
“Everyone thinks of the Oly Rollers as credited Speed Skaters and Hockey Skaters and not Derby players … our play at Regionals proved that we now can be known as DERBY players as well!” Atomatrix of Oly Rollers told the Derby News Network. “We have the skills and skating ability of a national caliber team… You can’t work that hard for that long without thinking you have the ability to WIN! After Regionals we knew that speed and stamina weren’t an issue so we focused on our strategy. With the work we’ve put in for Nationals, we’re more ready than ever to take the championship back to the WEST.”
The West League-member Oly Rollers are based out of Olympia, Wash., and include Atomatrix, Wax Job, Surly Sioux, Sassy, Riot Girl, Trickk Tracy, Blonde an’ Bitchin, 2TON Heffer, 4×4 Wheel-Her, B Tease N, Foxy Blocker, D-Bomb, Tannibal Lector, and TKO Punchin’ Judy.
