McCoy improves his chances for the Heisman?

_

The Aggies of Texas A&M were determined to ruin the BCS hopes of Texas, but Colt McCoy and the Longhorns didn’t let it happen Thursday. Love those back and forth games! McCoy added some fuel to his Heisman Trophy hopes with his performance in this game, rushing for a career-high 175 yards and a TD, completing 24 of 40 passes for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns. Jerrod Johnson passed for 342 yards with 4 TDs and an interception. Johnson also rushed for 97 yards for the Aggies, who lost 3 of their last 4. These two teams scored a combined 88 points — the most in this series. The Longhorns finished the regular season 12-0 and will face Nebraska in the Big 12 championship. Bonus from this game: Erin Andrews!

There are some great games on the tube this weekend.

Even the CBS commentators introducing the Iron Bowl gave Auburn virtually no chance of winning against #2 Alabama. And the Crimson Tide did win… barely. Perhaps Bama was caught looking ahead to playing Florida in the SEC Championship Game because it took knocking down a last second hail mary pass to win the state title and bragging rights for another year. Auburn jumped out ahead fast, leading 14-0, and they held Heisman hopeful Mark Ingram to just 30 yards. Ingram got injured and may not even play against Florida, which is beating their rivals Florida State as I write this. Congratulations to Alabama, though, for coming from behind to beat Auburn 26-21 and finish their second straight season undefeated. For Auburn fans, knocking Ingram out of the lead in the Heisman race, showing a more talented Gator team how to contain the Tide and demonstrating they can still play on the same field in front of top recruits may be a victory in itself.

#5 Cincinnati beat Illinois 49-36 to go 11-0. Tony Pike returned as a starter and threw 6 TD passes for 399 yards. Next they’ll play at #9 Pittsburgh next Saturday (noon Eastern on ABC). The Panthers lost to West Virginia 19-16 Friday.

#4 TCU just beat New Mexico 51-10 as I write this.

#6 Boise State beat Nevada 44-33 yesterday. Kellen Moore threw 5 TD passes, including one to brother Kirby Moore to put the game out of reach. They’re now 12-0. Next week they play New Mexico State.

I’m watching Florida-FSU, Va. Tech-UVa and Arizona-ASU right now.

Enjoy those turkey leftovers and be sure to flip back and forth between football and MavTV, brothers!
