Statesville, North Carolina (June 1, 2022) – The third running of the Veterans Classic this Saturday continues what has been a rewarding agreement between the Super Cup Stock Car Series and the promotional staff with Shenandoah Speedway in which the relationship is slated to carry forward to 2023 and beyond. In fact, the SCSCS expects to proceed in support of all existing track partners despite the temporary slowdown and challenges that the country and world are currently experiencing, and will do everything in their power to present entertaining races for the incredible foundation of loyal fans at each facility.
For many of the SCSCS competitors it is business as usual as they take to the 3/8-mile compound-banked Virginia oval in sight of securing one of the custom trophies that will once again be up for grabs upon the waving of the checkered flag for each main event. Maysville, West Virginia’s Jason Kitzmiller, who made his series debut at Shenandoah in August 2019, currently leads the 2022 standings by 37 over Hickory, North Carolina’s Ben Ebeling, a four-time past winner at the speedway including both races in 2021 that went caution-free. Both drivers have won on two occasions to start off this season.
The initial race day practice session begins at 1:45 p.m. with qualifying scheduled for 4:15 p.m. A chance for spectators to meet and greet the drivers as well as see the full-bodied stock cars up close on the frontstretch will take place at 6:00 p.m. as part of the opening ceremonies. The annual parade laps with American flags will lead into the first of the SCSCS twin features plus another half dozen additional local and regional racing divisions taking the green shortly thereafter.
A collection in the grandstands will take place during the evening’s festivities to assist various veterans’ charities. Free admission will be offered to all children 12 and under (when accompanied by an adult), first responders, and veterans.
