Series veteran and local Pittsburgh resident Jeff Zillweger will be making his first start of 2022 on Saturday

Statesville, North Carolina (July 13, 2022) – Following an unexpected five-week layoff, the Super Cup Stock Car Series is ready to bounce back at a familiar venue in the Laurel Highlands region of Pennsylvania. Jennerstown Speedway Complex hosts its first of two appearances in 2022 this Saturday and there will be many teams with differing objectives heading into the evening.

Brent Nelson has been the hottest driver as of late at the 1/2-mile oval. The Petersburg, West Virginia resident has achieved victory in four of the last five visits. The only other driver to win over that timeframe is Hickory, North Carolina’s Ben Ebeling, who heads into the weekend with four consecutive SCSCS trophies.

Ebeling is currently amidst a tight point lead battle with Jason Kitzmiller from Maysville, West Virginia. 2021’s top rookie led a total of 36 laps in last year’s Jennerstown races, but the Dominion event winner from back in April will be searching to earn his first checkered flag at the track.

Kitzmiller’s CR7 Motorsports teammate Larry Berg hopes to continue or better a streak of second and third place results over the last two events at Shenandoah and Midvale. The Petersburg, West Virginia grandfather of six-time Jennerstown winner Codie Rohrbaugh was fast qualifier in 2016 and has multiple top five finishes, but has not competed there since 2018.

A number of other racers intend to get a new string of impressive performances going after missing out on recent races. It will be a homecoming return for West Mifflin, Pennsylvania’s Lauren Butler as the past Street Stock champion’s familiar purple and pink racecar gets its final repairs completed in the Edlin Motorsports shop this week. Twin brothers Hayden and Landon Brothers also are focused on getting going again in their team cars out of York, Pennsylvania if all goes according to plan.

Richard Hauck will make the haul from Howell, Michigan in his first race back after sustaining damage in an incident at the season opening event at Dominion, while a few others will make their debut arrival of 2022. Among them is another local racer, Jeff Zillweger, in which a majority of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania driver’s past SCSCS success has come at Jennerstown. Jeff Thomas, originally from Pennsylvania and a Street Stock regular for a season at the track that now calls Gloucester, Virginia home, expects to make the trip up as well.

Warrington, Pennsylvania’s Mike Senica has a couple new corporate partners on board as he looks to continue improving upon prior consistent results in his ride fielded by past SCSCS Jennerstown winner Bill Ashton. This only scratches the surface regarding those expected to be on hand come Saturday.

Practice is slated to begin at 2:45 p.m. with qualifying taking place at 5:25 p.m. The first of the Super Cup Stock Car Series Trick Shot Sustainable Products Twin 50-lap main events will get underway at 6:00 p.m. with a planned autograph session behind the grandstands for fans between races.

The Pit Row TV production crew will be in attendance to film the races in preparation for another season of SCSCS racing to premiere on MAVTV Motorsports Network later in the year.
